Privacy Policy

Effective · Version 1.0

Short version: Gokaku collects nothing. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

Data stored on your device

Gokaku saves your study progress — per-question statistics and mastery state — your mock exam history, and your settings: theme, language, the Japanese-terms toggle and batch size. On iOS this lives in UserDefaults, on Android in SharedPreferences.

This data never leaves your device except in the two cases below. It is included in your device backup only if you have enabled iCloud Backup or Google Backup yourself; that is managed by your operating system, not by the app. You can erase it at any time with Settings → Reset progress, or by deleting the app.

Export and import

If you choose to export your progress, Gokaku writes a gokaku-progress.json file and hands it to your operating system’s share sheet. Import goes through the system file picker. Where that file goes is entirely your choice — we never receive it and the app never uploads it anywhere.

Network access

The app itself makes no network requests. The only outbound traffic happens on your behalf: the App Store or Google Play when you make a tip purchase, and the system “rate this app” prompt — both handled by Apple and Google under their own privacy policies, with no data from them reaching us.

The links in Settings open pages on nonbiri.dev in your browser. That site carries no analytics and sets no cookies, and the app itself sends nothing when you follow one.

Payments

Tips are one-time in-app purchases processed entirely by Apple or Google. We never see or store your payment details — only the store’s aggregated reporting.

Tracking and advertising

There is no App Tracking Transparency tracking, no advertising identifiers, no analytics, no cookies and no profiling. The App Privacy label for Gokaku reads Data Not Collected, and PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy declares NSPrivacyTracking = false with empty collected-data and tracking-domain lists.

Children

Gokaku is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf — you already control all of it, on your device.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above will change with it.
