Terms of Use

Effective · Version 1.0

Gokaku is distributed through the App Store and Google Play. On iOS, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement applies. The terms below add the few things specific to this app.

Not an official source

Gokaku is an independent, unofficial study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the National Police Agency (警察庁), the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (国土交通省), any prefectural police licence centre, or any driving school.

Passing a mock exam in this app does not guarantee passing the official test. Traffic rules change — always confirm current requirements with your prefectural licence centre.

Licence

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app. Reverse engineering, resale, and extracting the question bank for commercial use are not permitted.

Tips

Tips are a voluntary contribution towards a product you have already received for free. They unlock no features, content or advantages of any kind. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google through reportaproblem.apple.com or Google Play support, not by the developer.

No warranty

The app is provided “as is”. It does not guarantee that you will pass any examination and does not replace official study materials. To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any loss arising from its use.

Rule currency

Question content matches a pinned revision of the 教則 — the 49th revision of 13 November 2024. Japan’s traffic rules change; when they do, questions whose citations no longer match the corpus are flagged for review, but the authoritative source is always your prefectural licence centre.

Sources and attribution

Rule texts. Quotations come from 交通の方法に関する教則 (警察庁), 第49次改正 of 13 November 2024. They are reproduced as short attributed quotations for educational purposes; translations were produced for this app.

Sign images. Japanese road signs are established by government 告示 and, under Article 13 of Japan’s Copyright Act (著作権法), are not subject to copyright. Sources: Wikimedia Commons (PD-Japan-exempt) and the official 国土交通省 registry (政府標準利用規約 v2.0). Commercial use is permitted and attribution is not required — it is given here for transparency.

Open source. Gokaku is built with Flutter and uses flutter_svg, in_app_purchase, shared_preferences, share_plus, file_selector, path_provider, in_app_review, flutter_displaymode, url_launcher and intl. Full licences are available from the app’s system licence screen.
